The Second House
This first of the 4 Fixed Signs is “ruled” by Venus with the Moon exalted.
The detriment and fall planets are Mars and Uranus, respectively.
Our work of re-tooling the detriment and fall planets on our new Aquarian Age Zodiac is really cut out for us this time but if we use common sense and intuition, functions of Taurus and the Moon, I think we’ll be able to sort through the Bull and come up meaningful solutions that will work the magic of transforming this Fixed Earth sign into the abundant and prosperous Paradise it should be.
Taurus the What?
According to Astrological tradition, Taurus Earth is a “feminine” element. So we women will just have to “be still and Know” and continue to “grin and bear it” while quietly taking our horns back (which as everyone knows is exactly what is happening worldwide).
We don’t know why or how Taurus came to be called the Bull sign. Maybe it was the horns. However, I must inform those of you who don’t know that the Divine Feminine Bovine is known to grow horns too.
Yes! It is absolutely true! Check it out for yourselves — I did!
I collected a whole pile of photos and YouTube videos and posted them in Astronomology Support Group on Facebook. I’ll share the best ones here with you. But I promise you, these are not exceptions to the rule! This is how it is in real life and in the myths of ancient nations that made cultural contributions to the Modern Zodiac in use today.

Our most handy ancient authority probably comes out of pre-dynastic Egypt in the form of Hathor and her fellow cow goddesses.

Mehet-Weret, Celestial Cow, Goddess of Water, Creation and Rebirth
By Caroline Seawright
Mehet-Weret (Mehetweret, Mehitweret, Mehit-Weret, Methyer, Mehueret, Mehturt, Meh-Urt) was the goddess of streaming water, a goddess related to creation and to rebirth. Her name means “Great Flood” or “Great Tide”, linking her with water and the primeval waters of Nun. In the Old Kingdom, she was believed to have helped the pharaoh and Rereach the sky, by way of the Nile in the underworld.
“I behold Rawho was born yesterday from the thighs of the goddess Mehet-Weret; his strength is my strength, and my strength is his strength.” Who is this? “Mehet-Weret is the great Celestial Water, but others say that Mehet-Weret is the image of the Eye of Ra at dawn at his birth daily. “[Others, however, say that] Mehet-Weret is the Wedjat (Eye of Horus or Ra).”

The big-horned Cows of Uganda
YouTube link for e-mail subscribers: http://youtu.be/Rwz3xRMnZ5M
Ancient rock paintings and depictions of Ankole-Watusi cows have been observed in the Sahara region and in the Egyptian arts and pyramid walls. There is a breed called the Sanga that spread to the Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, and other parts of eastern Africa, becoming the base stock of many of the indigenous African breeds. * * *
Particularly remarkable are the cattle found in Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. * * * Traditionally, Ankole-Watusi were considered sacred. They supplied milk to the owners, but were only rarely used for meat production, since an owner’s wealth was counted in live animals.
Ankole-Watusi have played a pivotal role in the lives of various African tribes – Tutsi, Ankole, Bahima, Bashi, Bakiga, and the Kivu – although the Tutsi are most often associated with the breed. The cattle provided food, currency, and tribal status. * * * Those with the largest and longest horns belonged to the king and were considered sacred, with some individuals having horns that measure 12 feet (3.7 m) from tip to tip. The breed is often referred to as the “Cattle of Kings”.

Hathor
The cult of Hathor predates the historic period, and the roots of devotion to her are therefore difficult to trace, though it may be a development of predynastic cults which venerated fertility, and nature in general, represented by cows.
Hathor is commonly depicted as a cow goddess with head horns in which is set a sun disk with Uraeus. Twin feathers are also sometimes shown in later periods as well as a menat necklace. Hathor may be the cow goddess who is depicted from an early date on the Narmer Palette and on a stone urn dating from the 1st dynasty that suggests a role as sky-goddess and a relationship to Horus who, as a sun god, is “housed” in her.

Notice the head shape and the ears on the “Human-Like” likenesses of Hathor in Egyptian art. Are these our ancient Elders, our Star Family from the Pleiades?
Where and how did this sign go astray?

The Hierophant (Atu V), in some decks is named The Pope. Whether it is named the Pope or Hierophant, it still refers to the Pope in the two examples pictured above (Rider-Waite deck at left | Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot with art by Lady Frieda Harris at right). It is the fifth trump or Major Arcana card in most traditional Tarot decks. It is used in game playing as well as in divination.
In the Hermetic or Spiritual Tarot decks that use a Western Occult version of the Hebrew Tree of Life, this trump is associated with the Zodiac Sign of Taurus and Hebrew letter Vau.
Taurus is referred to in occult work as the Bull Kerub. The fixed star Aldebaran (Alpha Taurus) is Guardian of one of the 4 Watchtowers of the Universe. It is directly opposite the Watchtower associated with fixed star Alpha Scorpius (Antares) which as you can see in the corners of Aleister Crowley’s trump is referred to occultly as the Eagle Kerub.
The Crowley version of this Trump exposes a number of Occult Secrets that we have talked about in other posts. This was a regular practice of A.C.’s that caused everyone a lot of grief. The Orders he joined who routinely disseminated dis-information to hide the Truth so nobody else could use it found it necessary not only to defame Crowley (though it’s true he was a bizarre character who did a lot of strange and extreme stuff for one reason or another — or sometimes for no reason at all) but to sue him to try to stop him from continuing to expose their secrets.
It didn’t work. Crowley’s deck breaks all the old rules. It takes a lot of open minded and unprejudiced study to appreciate his legacy.
Planetary Dignities
In the above context we can see why Mars and Uranus might be in “detriment” and “fall” in this Astrological field — but only if Taurus were being properly associated with Cattle as opposed to the Bull, subliminally and incorrectly inferring that there is a masculine quality that predominates. Most Astrology people don’t ask the obvious questions. We are too wrapped up in the job of memorizing what the books say to think outside of the box.
So while it is reasonable to interpret Mars in Taurus as having a track record for being the energy behind the abuse of women, children, the marketplace, the job sector and the economy (not to mention carving deep scars in Planet Earth’s thick hide), recent changes to the frequencies of our Solar System (described in Ophiuchus Tips for Astrologers ~ Mars) should serve to assure us that Ophiuchus indeed has an ally here — think of Mars as the antidote, the vaccine, the “hair of the dog” so to speak.
As to Uranus (Ouranos, the Ancient Sky God whose myth started all the child abuse stories) let’s try to see that situation as just as profaned a story as that of any of the goddesses and move on.
Uranus’s New Age role as Libertarian, Freedom Lover, and Mold Breaker is hardly bad news in Zodiac Constellation-Sign Taurus. If anything, that’s the stuff Revolutions are made of. Think of the changing of the ages as a Revolution because that’s exactly what evolution forces upon us.
Evolve, adapt, survive the changes or die!
Ophiuchus – Taurus Common Ground
On our continuing quest to find common ground between Ophiuchus and the 12 Zodiac Signs, we note in particular the relationship between Alpha Taurus (Aldebaran) and Alpha Scorpius (Antares).
Scorpius consists of nothing more than a slender isthmus-shaped plot of celestial real estate over-lorded by the towering body of the Serpent Holder with its suddenly-ambiguous sexuality that is a product of the resurrection of the Goddess Within the new zodiac constellation which has only recently been uncovered and revealed.

If there is a point at which the vaccine should (metaphorically in Astrology terms) leave the epidermic needle of the Divine Physician it would be from Antares; and the point at which the vaccine would enter the body of the First Sign of Earth (Taurus) would be Aldebaran. Thus a channel or tube for exchanges of cosmic body fluids in the form of Light-Wisdom connects Scorpius, Taurus, and Ophiuchus (by virtue of Oph fixed stars aligned with Alpha Scorpius).
This visualization and use of angles between stars in their star fields brings a whole new meaning to the Astrology concept of the “Opposition” aspect (the 180 degree angle) as we visualize Scorpius as the new Southern Serpent of Light-Wisdom wrapped around the Staff of Asclepius which is made from the light tube or pole connecting Alpha Scorpius and Alpha Taurus as suggested immediately above.
The Staff of Asclepius connection is not mentioned in the above article. This is information that is just now being released.
Compare this Staff with Bill Buehler’s Shamir Staff.
Taurus-Ophiuchus Elemental Interface
Earth signs are ideologically negative and receptive. So are Water signs. The trick is that of the two Zodiac Constellations opposite Taurus, Scorpius is a fixed water sign but Ophiuchus is (a) not a “Sign” and (b) if it were it wouldn’t be Water or Earth, it would be Ether. Ether has power in all of the signs and theoretically, as the Source of all of the classic elements, should not be hampered by any of them. That is why Ophiuchus is the Divine Physician & Master Healer.
Pull out your planetarium program and check the Ecliptic Longitude coordinates for Alpha Orion and then follow that meridian North until it connects with a familiar star at the top of the celestial sphere — the star called Polaris. Yes, that’s right — the North star. What kind of a cosmic coincidence would you consider this alignment to be? Does that perchance answer the question “why is Orion such a big deal around here”?
You know of course that the Great Pyramids are aligned to the stars of Orion’s Belt, right?
The Orion Sector of Taurus
Orion may have been just a drop-dead gorgeous man and masterful Hunter to the Greeks but to the Egyptians his constellation is the energy body of Osiris, brother-husband of Isis whom we have identified as a particular Name of Power attributable to the Divine Feminine form of Constellation Ophiuchus.
At one point in Ancient time Hathor and Isis were one-and-the-same goddess being the same energy body being worshiped under two separate names.
Hathor was the cow-goddess.
Asteroid 2340 Hathor
2340 Hathor is an asteroid that was discovered on October 22, 1976 by C.T. Kowal at Palomar Observatory, San Diego County, California. Like the other objects of Aten type, Hathor is named for an Egyptian deity. Known as a sky-goddess and the daughter of Ra, Hathor was also identified with Isis and Aphrodite.
Osiris, God of the Dead
Like Mars Osiris was originally an agrarian god as Isis is the prime Goddess of Fertility. But once he was fooled by his jealous brother Set’s clever scheme to trap him in his own coffin and do away with him, Osiris became God of the Dead while Isis remained the Goddess of Life.
Note the balancing interplay of conceptual gender energy in almost all the myths about the gods and goddesses of the western world — except for the Christian, that is. Christian creationism isn’t considered to be a world myth at this point — at least not by the Christians. To a lot of people it’s true history.
We’ll leave that idea right where it is for the moment.
- But for discussion on that topic see The Quintessential Ophiuchus
The point of all of the above is to begin bringing out the Egyptian lore so we may begin to consider how the Egyptian God of Healing & Wisdom Imhotep and his namesake Asteroid can factor into our Astrological readings thanks to Constellation Ophiuchus.
But now we need to return in Time to where we began to establish the current (and hence predominant) Zodiac connection between Ophiuchus and Taurus (Orion sector).
Orion the Hunter
Those who are up on their Greek Myths (or Constellation Ophiuchus lore) know that among the stories surrounding how Asclepius was killed is the one involving Orion (my favorite).
As this act of the unwritten Greek tragedy Asclepius starts, Orion is in the water swimming for his life. The Giant Scorpion is in hot pursuit.
Orion had been hired to do a job for one of the Gods. This god lived on an Island that had become overrun with terrible beasts and he wanted that beast population to be eradicated. And Orion was the only man who could do that job.
At the end of the day when the job was done, rather than pay the agreed upon price for his services the God decided to kill Orion instead. The contract price was the hand of this God’s granddaughter in marriage. Unfortunately for Orion, this God had been lusting after his own granddaughter all the time and had secretly intended to go back on his word and keep the girl for himself (tsk tsk tsk).
To ensure that Orion wouldn’t reemerge from the water alive, the God called out to Artemis, the Virgin Goddess of Animals, Archery & the Hunt. He knew Artemis loved Orion and would do anything to protect him. So the God pointed to a bobbing form in the water, told her it was the Giant Scorpion in pursuit of her beloved Orion, and commanded her to shoot her arrow and be quick about it!
Did she not look close enough? Or did she act in the faith that the God was telling her the truth?
She shot her arrow and it struck true — and as you can guess, it struck and killed Orion.
Horrified, Artemis pulled Orion’s lifeless body out of the water and sent for Asclepius, the mortal physician who had never lost a patient to death and who could even revive a dying or recently deceased patient. It was while Asclepius was in the process of reviving Orion the Hunter that he was struck and killed by the Thunderbolt of Zeus. The crime was the use of powers reserved for the gods–they did not want humanity to learn the secrets of life and death and how to avoid dying.
Thus, in the process of saving his fellow humans from death, Asclepius was basically filching their souls from the Underworld (the domain of Hades, Zeus’s brother).
So now that you know this story and can imagine all the family politics involved (lots and lots!) you have one more great big field of Greco-Egyptian myth and history energy to fold into your Astrological readings in this sector of the Zodiac Circle.
The Taurus-Ophiuchus Relationship
The cosmic implication of the stories I have just related to you is that Orion and Asclepius (Ophiuchus) have both suffered certain injustices at the hands of the gods. And not that these injustices are the glue that binds them but they both lost their lives while performing their work in good and faithful service.
The bottom line is that Orion, the Scorpion, and Constellation Ophiuchus have a relationship history that is custom-made for helping turn Humanity around for the sake of resolving numerous issues that it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out.
Those engaged in Taurus-Ophiuchus relationships are implementing the Ophidian Current of energy being brought to the planet by Ophiuchus to revive the Spirit of Orion the Hunter so they can together help Humanity rid its Island (the Earth) of Beasts. This allows the Asclepius aspect of Constellation Ophiuchus to revive and heal the Planet and Her Species as planned.

This is the section in which I’m going to introduce elements of Orthodox Astrology that don’t make sense to me because they seem to be at odds with the goal of Astrology, which we have been led to believe is to guide us toward health and happiness.
Let’s have a discussion. Just keep in mind that somebody or bodies put this system together the same way computer programs are written. It does not necessarily follow that it serves the intended purpose in the New Age.
So now that Ophiuchus has introduced itself as a great agent of change and demonstrated its value and ability to perform as advertised, let’s look at the rest of the Astrology system as critically as we’re looking at our local and planetary governments.

* * * * *
I understand the principle of dignity, detriment, exaltation and fall. But at the same time it is a fact that our world is changing along with our dictionary of terms and how we want to live in the world. We are learning that the future is a blank page waiting for us to write on it.
So here’s what I think, and since this is a Journey we’re all on together, I want you to think these things through for yourself too. Just make up your mind and feed your decision to the Hologram. Here’s my issue:
The reason why Mars in the past was detrimental in Taurus is practically a no-brainer. War and other extreme uses of energy and weaponry to advance military occupation, as we are recently learning, has not been necessary for self-protection purposes. The energies of Mars as currently profiled and used throughout recent history have not co-created with us a world that is harmonious and productive for ordinary people and their families. We are learning we’ve been lied to, manipulated, and the worlds populations thinned by unnecessary wars orchestrated on the fabrication of illusions.
The new profiling of Mars changes all of that and releases Mars from his limitations so he can achieve his full spiritual potential thanks to the revival of Ophiuchus.
Secondly, we haven’t gotten to the Eleventh House yet but in the House of Aquarius Uranus rules. In Taurus, Uranus is in the orthodox sign of its Fall. Taurus and Aquarius are two of the four Fixed Signs which means they are at two stations of the Fixed Cross.
The Fixed Cross is made of the signs of the Kerubs, Archangels or Watch Towers of the Universe. The other two Zodiac Signs of this cross are Leo and Scorpio. So you can see right away how vital it is for us to understand the cosmic implications of this cross and for us to be doing this work together today.
- To read about the Watch Towers and changes to the Fixed Cross see Three Days in June 2012: Partial Eclipse, Venus Transit and 2012 June Solstice ~ Ophiuchus in the Sacred Circle.
The 90 degree angle in Astrology is said to set up a frequency that generates tension between orbiting bodies that are in aspect. In the context of the cardinal, fixed, and mutable crosses this tension acts as a signal heralding impending change of direction. In relationships it tells us we’re at a turning point or we’re being tested and need to make the right decision in order to keep moving forward.
So I can see the concept of tension at the corners makes sense. This is further illustrated by the idea that the vibrations of Uranus are in the process of shepherding Humanity through an extremely difficult turning point while we navigate the changing of an Age from Pisces to Aquarius.
That being said, Uranus’s New Age role as Libertarian, Freedom Lover, and Mold Breaker is hardly bad news in Zodiac Constellation Taurus. If anything, that’s the stuff Revolutions are made of. And revolutions as we know are healthy and necessary to keep untenable situations from destroying our society and our planet.
So my question is, why are the attributes of Uranus being described to Taurus as a though it were a fallen angel?
Perhaps in this instance my argument is more about the labels we’re using (dignity, exaltation, detriment and fall) than it is about what affects these planets have in the Houses they’ve been associated with.
We all need to think about this. Myself included. Maybe in my case it’s an attitude problem. Sue me. Part of my job is to kick tires and light fires to see what is still standing that is suitable and helps my brothers and sisters thrive in the New Age.
I’m cleaning house.
The series Ophiuchus & the 12 Houses is a bubbling of thoughts, a work in progress. Until you see this red flag disappear, please keep checking back for additions and updates.
