Everything You Need to Know About All the MAJOR Moon Events of 2025

This post was originally published on Astrology Answers

We’re just a few weeks away from 2025, and with a new year, we get all new astrology – including all new Full Moons, New Moons, and eclipses!

Full Moons occur when the transit (moving) Sun and Moon are opposite one another, so they are in exact opposite positions in the zodiac. This is at odds with the Moon ruling emotions and the Sun ruling the self, so emotions run high. Full Moons bring endings and culminations.

Meanwhile, New Moons occur when the transit Sun and Moon conjunct, or align, in the zodiac. New Moons are energizing and enthusiastic, prompting us to take action with what we want to start. This is a time of new beginnings.

We go back and forth from one New Moon to one Full Moon and back to a New Moon and then a Full Moon. This switches roughly every two weeks. About every six months, we have eclipses, and Lunar Eclipses occur with Full Moons while Solar Eclipses occur with New Moon.

New and Full Moons have an impact for about two weeks before and after, but eclipses have an impact up to six months before and after. Their bigger window to affect us means they can pack a bigger punch and trigger life-changing opportunities, decisions, plans, ideas, and results.

We have one New Moon and one Full Moon about every month, for a total of about 12-13 each year. We have about 4-6 eclipses every year, and in 2025, there will be four: two Solar Eclipses and two Lunar Eclipses.

The 2025 Eclipses Wrap Up With Aries & Focus on New Signs

We often have four eclipses each year, two of each, and that will happen in 2025. The 2025 eclipses will occur in three zodiac signs: Aries, Virgo, and Pisces.

Eclipses occur in pairs of opposing signs, and we close up the Aries-Libra eclipse set and move fully into the Virgo-Pisces eclipse set.

Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: March 14th, 2025

The first eclipse comes as a Lunar Eclipse in practical Virgo, the sign of work, the mundane, and daily life. The Virgo Lunar Eclipse can bring great developments in our daily lives, and we can see the results of the work we’ve done.

Virgo rules the small things, so developments might be small or at least seem small at the time. This can add up later or might be bigger than we realize at the moment, but making it seem smaller can help with managing it well and avoiding overwhelm.

The hardest part of a Virgo Lunar Eclipse is the stress, and we’re stressed out to the max pretty easily. It’s very important to have healthy outlets for stress to help avoid burnout or turning stress into physical health problems.

This eclipse is opposite transit Saturn in Pisces and trine transit Uranus in Taurus. The opposition to Saturn can bring some restrictive energy, and we may struggle with finding options to solve problems.

We usually need to be responsible and disciplined with Saturn, so stay the course and don’t try to cut corners. Things might not be as limited as they seem, so have some patience until it passes.

The trine to Uranus does provide an opportunity to do things differently, to experiment and embrace the unconventional, and this might be the way out of the restriction. Still, maintain discipline and be smart with any changes you make or anything you do differently; it can pay off.

Solar Eclipse in Aries: March 29th, 2025

After that comes an Aries Solar Eclipse, which is the final eclipse in Aries for some time. It’s also the third Solar Eclipse in Aries as we also had one in 2023 and 2024.

This means developments with this eclipse might tie into what you were focused on over the last two years, and you might’ve begun something two years ago that comes to fruition, or you might go over the finish line within 2025.

This eclipse does come with Mercury retrograde, or appearing to move backward, as well as Venus retrograde, and both Mercury and Venus retrograde start earlier in March, triggering this Aries eclipse. The eclipse energy is strong, but given the retrogrades, it may not focus on anything new, so this again gives the idea that developments are with something you started 1-2 years ago.

Spiritual Neptune is also on the move to Aries the next day, on March 30th, 2025, and it can mean you’re entering a new phase, the next chapter with whatever you began 1-2 years ago, and see developments with now. With Neptune, you can develop a stronger intuitive connection and utilize creativity.

Lunar Eclipse in Pisces: September 7th, 2025

The second Lunar Eclipse in 2025 comes in Pisces, and this is the second as there was a Pisces Lunar Eclipse in September 2024, and there will be one more in August 2026, so we’re in the middle now in 2025.

This continues the Pisces-Virgo eclipse set. With Pisces, this greatly increases the spiritual, karmic, subconscious, and intuitive energy of Lunar Eclipses since Pisces also rules these things.

This was a lot stronger with the 2024 eclipse since it was conjunct Neptune, the natural ruler of Pisces, amplifying the impact. But for 2025, the Pisces Lunar Eclipse does come with Saturn anaretic in Pisces.

There are 30 degrees in every zodiac sign, and 29 degrees is the last degree. This is called the anaretic degree, and it’s super strong energy and can be difficult to manage with the transit planets.

Transit Saturn anaretic in Pisces means we’re likely struggling with more of our karmic baggage and lessons, and we have to be gentle with ourselves and others and pay closer attention to the past and intuitive insights.

This is an important period for releasing, understanding, and reflecting, so many of us will most likely be doing that. If you’ve already worked through your baggage, you might feel extra inspired and get lots of intuitive downloads.

This eclipse is trine beneficial Jupiter in Cancer, so this does provide some assistance, and it can be easier to keep the big picture in mind, being optimistic about whatever we’re working on, and keeping an open mind.

Solar Eclipse in Virgo: September 21st, 2025

This is the first and only Virgo Solar Eclipse for the Virgo-Pisces eclipse set, and while it might be the only one, it packs a whopper of a punch since it’s anaretic! As I just said, this is super strong energy, and with a Solar Eclipse, we can be motivated to take action right away, especially since this is the first and last in Virgo.

This means we’re quickly acting with opportunities in our work to make changes in our daily lives, pick up new projects, change our routines, improve our health, and get more productive.

We do need to make sure we’re not being too rash, though, and we have thought this through. If we jump without looking, we can land right in a giant puddle and ruin our favorite shoes!

This is even more important with this eclipse opposite transit Saturn, so we once again have to keep Saturn in mind and stay disciplined, practical, focused, responsible, and ethical.

Important New & Full Moons in 2025

Outside of the eclipses, these are the New and Full Moons in 2025 that can also be important, and you should pay attention to.

Full Moon in Cancer: January 13th, 2025

Yes, the very first Full Moon for 2025 is a doozy thanks to it occurring conjunct transit Mars retrograde, which goes from Leo to Cancer on January 6th, 2025. Mars retrograde can bring out major frustrations and aggravations, and Full Moons can be subjectively emotional, so it’s not a good combo.

Our emotional responses can be all wrong, with Cancer being the sign of emotion. We lash out irrationally and unpredictably if we’re upset. The thing is, whatever we think is upsetting us likely isn’t the actual problem, and it’s covering for what the REAL problem is.

We need to be willing to face old emotional issues and emotional baggage. Otherwise, this Full Moon could land us in some seriously hot water, and we may not find a way out until after Mars’s retrograde ends (February 23rd).

Full Moon in Libra: April 12th, 2025

The Full Moon coming out of Eclipse Season is interesting because it comes on the same day Venus retrograde ends, and it’s in Libra, and Venus is its natural ruling planet. This means the Full Moon is bringing extra attention and focus to the Venus energy as the retrograde comes to a close.

This can be an important period for focusing on our connections with others since Mercury and Venus retrogrades might make it all about ourselves. We need to work on improving our bonds with others.

Having healthy, strong bonds with others makes us feel more emotionally stable and secure, and we can come out of Venus’s retrograde in a better place.

New Moon in Cancer: June 25th, 2025

The Cancer New Moon is excellent because it comes as Jupiter has just entered Cancer (June 9th) and is conjunct lucky Jupiter. This brings expansive energy to our dealings at home, with family, and emotionally.

We may improve our living situations or make changes to our home environments, reconnect with those we think of as family, and offer support and encouragement. This can be a great time for a move or to expand our families.

With Cancer ruling emotions, we’re quite positive about life and feel good emotionally, which helps us make the most of opportunities. We may end up focusing on an opportunity that allows us to start from the bottom with something, and we can see developments in about six months. We may work on it for the next six years.

This is likely the most beneficial New Moon for 2025 and one of the most beneficial periods of the year.

New Moon in Scorpio: November 20th, 2025

This New Moon is packed with energy as it’s conjunct Mercury retrograde, who just went back to Scorpio 1 1/2 days before the New Moon, and opposite anaretic Uranus in Taurus, trine anaretic Neptune in Pisces, and widely conjunct Venus in Scorpio and trine Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer. Almost every planet is in the mix!

This can mean significant events and developments have a broad impact and far reach, extending into many areas of life. With Mercury retrograde, this might involve something or someone from the past, and we would benefit from taking a big second chance at something.

The opposition to Uranus means we’re a bit restless and impulsive, so we need to keep that under control and work on small changes that can happen fast. Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune all bring helpful energy, and we may work well together, commit to whatever occurs, see the benefits, make strides, and feel connected.

Intuition can be very strong with this New Moon, and it would be a good idea to work on having a solid connection, so pay attention to whatever comes up. Events might feel fated, and we can feel good about that.

Good Luck With the Moon Energy

So, that’s the list of the important New and Full Moons and the impact of the four eclipses in 2025.

No matter what, take care of yourself emotionally, have healthy outlets for upset, and try to go with the flow a little better.
